ENROLMENT INFORMATION
Hi,
Joining Tony Mawbey’s Martial Art Schools (T.M.M.A.S.) is easy,
It is as simple as just turning up,
We train in the Rotherham area on Tuesdays and Thursdays at
Wickersley School and Sports College,
and for the Scunthorpe area Wednesdays at Burringham Village Hall.
Lessons start at 7 p.m. and are for all students aged from 6 to Adult.
And are for all grades White belt to Black belt .
We enrol throughout the year, so all you need to do is ‘phone me to let me know you are coming.
All you will need as a beginner, is loose fitting clothes like “track suit” bottoms and a “T” shirt, wearing “trainers” is optional. You will also need to bring a water based drink.
On your first lesson you will be asked to fill in a simple enrolment form, this form asks for basic information such as, name, address contact phone number and if you suffer from any ailments such Ashtma e.t.c. This information is NOT kept on any computer and is NOT shared with anyone.
You don’t have to be “super fit” or have to have any knowledge of Martial Arts. The only “thing” you will need is a certain amount of commitment, it takes a long time to become good at Martial Arts. The minimum time to Black Belt is 3 and a half years.
Like anything, to reap the rewards you have to put the work in, simple really.
The breakdown of the lessons are roughly as follows, there is a 15 to 20 minute exercise warm up routine, the rest of the lesson is made up of “drill” work where you will learn the techniques, these includes blocking, punching, kicking, and patterns, you will also be taught pre arranged sparring, and free sparring and self defence. The content varies from lesson to lesson.
As a beginner you will not be expected to take part in “sparring” until
you are competent with basic martial art skills. All sparring is under supervision.
