1974
I enrolled at the Yorkshire Karate Centre, Attercliffe,
Sheffield. Practicing Shukokai Karate, developed by
Sensei Kumura.

I attained the Grade of Brown Belt.

1982
I started training in Tae Kwon Do (I.T.F. System) while working overseas.

1984
On returning to England I started training with
Mr. Kim Stones at Doncaster.
I trained with Kim for 12 years and attained the grade of 3rd Degree Black Belt through the T.A.G.B. And
Master Cho’s A.I.M.A.A..

1996
I founded N.E.S.T. (North of England Schools of Taekwondo)
A group of Schools spread across the north of England, Preston, Huddersfield, Rotherham, Wakefield, Sheffield,
Thorne, and Scunthorpe

1997
I attained the grade of 4th Degree Black Belt with
Master Cho and A.I.M.A.A..

2003
I attained the grade of 5th Degree Black Belt
through N.E.S.T.

2010
From January 2010 I renamed my schools to Tony Mawbey’s Martial Art Schools, so as to provide a more personal training experience for my students.

The syllabus of my schools is based on I.T.F. Tae kwon do mixed with Kickboxing and Self Defence techniques.
I have over 35 years experience in Martial Arts.

My self defence knowledge is gained from working as a frontline doorman for well over 10 years. This puts me in
a unique position to pass on all these skills, as a complete package to my students.
